Hi, I'm Amy. For more than 40 years, I've worked with campaigns, organizations and movements to expand who has a voice, who participates and who holds power — from city council to U.S. President, across 25 countries and 50+ U.S. states.

40 years in.
Still fired up.
For over 40 years, I've worked at the intersection of democracy, grassroots power, political strategy, and progressive change — across 50+ U.S. states and 25 countries.
From the streets of South Sudan to state capitols, from training youth party leaders in Rwanda to launching PACs in Washington DC, I've lived inside the machinery of democracy and fought to rebuild it where it's broken.
I've organized in neighborhoods devastated by gun violence and mass incarceration, on Native American reservations, in Texas oil fields, and alongside genocide survivors, political prisoners, and leaders in witness protection. My issue work spans gun control, marriage equality, abortion access, public education, health care, tax reform, and union organizing — all with one goal: to build real power for people who've historically had the least of it.
I've helped elect bold leaders including Jared Polis, Elizabeth Warren, and Ayanna Pressley, and have helped more people find jobs in the progressive ecosystem than anyone else — work I consider my most important.
I'm an insider who is not afraid to call out my own. In 2019, I took a public stand against Democratic leaders who introduced a loyalty oath banning consultants from working with challengers to incumbents — writing about it in The New York Times. The fallout was real. But democracy demands dissent, even from within.
Originally from Boston, I split my time between Cambridge MA, Washington DC, and Kigali, Rwanda — where I am building CoKiyovu: Women's Leadership & Democracy Center — living my ikigai: doing what I love, what I'm good at, what the world needs, and when the stars align, what pays the bills.
